ZAC ClubThe Zander Anglers Club of Great Britain The Zander Anglers Club was at first an idea brought up by some of the original members in the early 1990's, and then a little later started by the Zander 'GURU' himself Neville Fickling in the Summer of 1991. The ZAC was started at the Height of the Zander Fishing era to deal with the issues surrounding the Zander and the many problems that local fishing clubs had with the fish. eg. Fish Stocks, Killing Zander, Night Fishing etc etc At the time the ZAC was started the main population of the Zander was thought to be in the surrounding area of the Fenland Drains and its interlocking tributaries, but as time went by we found that the Zander Population has in deed spread throughout the UK in Rivers, Canals, Stillwaters, Drains and even large Trout Waters. Nowadays of course, you can travel to the lovely scenic surrounding's of the Fenland Drains and Rivers to catch the Zander, but with the network of the Fish now readily available in most parts of the country, anywhere really south of Ferrybridge on the A1 and you should be able to locate a Zander Venue. In the early days of Zander Fishing, eg the late 1960's and early 1970's, anglers came from near and far to catch these strange fish. The Specimen Anglers of that era came out of the woodwork to travel hundreds if not thousands of miles in order to catch a Zander. At the time of writing (Jan 2007) it is quite remarkable just how many venue's actually hold Zander. Remember, that it is not the Zander's fault for being stocked in your local Canal or local Park Pond and then proceeding to devour all the Silver Fish in there to survive. No its the Anglers that take them from the places of capture and re-stock them closer to home. The Zander Anglers Club members, who like to put pen to paper, can do so and if they don't mind sharing their information can contribute towards our twice yearly magazine, nicely named ' THE SNAPPER'. The Content of the magazine can be anything you want to know regarding the Zander, reporting a great session, sharing information with fellow Zed Anglers, Tackle Tips, News and Views, New Rigs, New Waters, Photo's for the Gallery and help for beginners if needed. The current yearly subs for the ZAC are still only £11, and for that you are affiliated to the SAA (Speciliast Anglers Alliance), they help to fight for the fishing rights. And of course 2 yearly magazines.
